{Children's room}

 I am now 4 weeks away from welcoming our first bundle of joy into the world.
A super exciting and also nervous time!
 Not to do things by half, we are also re-decorating our new home.
 The bathroom is now nearly complete, with just the finishing touches to put into place.
Next on the list was the nursery.

 Of course my Pinterest is full of children's room inspiration as below.

This was the room, after my darling husband spent days stripping all the awful dark green wallpaper from the walls and even ceiling.

We soon realised that the whole room needed re-plastering as chunks of the old wall fell away with the wallpaper!

Once the plaster had dried, said husband has spent the whole bank holiday weekend painting the room in Little Greene paint, Gauze colour.
As we do not know what we are having, we have decided on a very pale silver grey colour.

This week a new carpet is going down, then I cannot wait to show you pictures once all shelves are up and all our vintage pieces are in.

{Vintage Notebooks}

I have been busy planning and creating new ranges for Sesame and Lilly this month.

I have been a textile/ print designer for 10 years working within fashion and interiors.

My true love, as you can tell, lays within antique textiles and prints.

I have a huge collection of these which i use to inspire me and also to create new artworks.

I have decided to share some of these wonderful antique prints as a collection of A5 notebooks

I would love to have your feedback on which designs you like- to begin with the collection will consist of 5 designs.

Each notebook will be A5 with a Sesame and Lilly paper banner around the notebook to protect it until the time comes for you to use it.

Happy Weekend!

{Under the thatch}

This week my lovely husband and I visited Wales, staying at a beautiful 17th Century cottage recommended to us by the lovely Jeska at Lobster and Swan.
Situated on a sunny, sheltered little plateau right in the Black Mountains on the eastern side of the Brecon Beacons National Park, the cottage has a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

 With a stone tile roof, faded limewashed walls, and an amazingly well preserved 17th Century oak screen.
Although the weather was pouring most of the week we still ventured out to nearby towns, one of our favourites being Hay-on-Wye- full of lovely cafes, lots of bookshops and amazing produce shops.

More photos to come, but for now one of myself- wearing the biggest waterproof coat (way too big for me), walking rucksack and boots.

Those that know me well, know that I am certainly not one for 'sensible' clothing, so my husband was super surprised to get me into this attire.

What didn't surprise him though, was the fact I still wore red lipstick, even half-way up a mountain side!

If you would like to stay at this wonderful cottage, which i highly recommend, details can be found here.

{Full Bloom}

I am working on freelance print designs at the moment for my agent in NY.

Botanicals and dark romantic florals for AW are top of my list to create.

I wanted to share one of my major inspirations of the moment with you-
 BLOOM magazine.

Every issue is full of the most wonderful, inspiring images.

I use them for colour stories

Where do you get your inspiration from?

{Antique French silk bedspread}

Sometimes, just sometimes, you come across something so beautiful on Ebay that you have to purchase it.

This stunning french silk bedspread arrived in the studio this week.

Sadly the silk is very damaged, and though i intended to have it on our bed, i do not think it will survive.

So, instead I am going to frame the large embroidery in the middle.

However, I need to bring myself to cut it first!!
Not sure if i can.....

Happy weekend

{Antique sampler cushion}

My love of antique samplers is a life long affair.

I have a vast collection of them, decorating our bedroom wall.

I have now turned my love of them to feature in Sesame and Lilly's products.

 I am starting to produce digitally printed cushions featuring my favourite antique samplers.
